Buying the right scales is a relatively simple task. You really only need to know three things.

Firstly what do you wish to use it for. A kitchen scale will have quite different features to one which will weight trucks or cars.

Secondly what capacity does it need to weight. To some extent this determines the construction, but not all scales are capabale to measuring weight to the same amount.

Thirdly what resolution are you looking for. To put it differently, how accurate would you like the scale to be. Generally the more accurate your product the more your should expect to pay for it.

Finally check the construction of the scale. Ensure its sturdy and robust enough for the intended use. Check that it has some way of being able to be calibrated as scales get less accurate over time and do need some adjustment to keep them working correctly.
